D-Day Ohio Town Hall Meeting Saturday, November 21, 2009 1 PM American Legion Post D-Day Ohio made a presentation on the history of the event and the event needs. This presentation will be posted to the files portion of the D-Day Ohio Yahoo Group site. Grants, large donors, and in-kind donations were discussed. It was determined that D-Day Ohio should link to the Arts Council through its web site. Opportunities to better market goods/license the logo were discussed. Through the discussion it was determined that D-Day Ohio could partner with local businesses (Biscotti's and the Arts Council) to market its goods. The Veterans Service Commission Transportation service was suggested as a possible option for shuttle service. Expanding the sales location to a second location on the beach was suggested. On the subject of off-site parking, it was suggested that local groups might be able to manage the parking lots and collect donations/parking fees – the proceeds could be split. In particular, school groups/high school clubs were mentioned. If the USO is moved, D-Day Ohio will have to obtain its own liquor permit. Follow up on the condition of the air conditioner and options for the upstairs of the Legion were discussed. Setting up a local telephone tree was discussed, as was the need for a better site map that the local groups could use to help in planning. Also needed is an area map including a list of churches and vacation rentals. D-Day Ohio might be able to solicit volunteers through the ACCVB – their email blanket list. We need to add the event to the ACCVB web site for the event list The opportunity to coordinate vacation packages surrounding the event through the ACCVB was also discussed. Golf carts might be available from the North Kingsville golf course. A handicapped accessible van might be available from the Villa. Councilman Jake Chicatelli offered to assist with parking. A list of attendees was collected.
